Zowel Kranenborg als Velthuis werden samen met Peter Delpeut en Paul Ruven uitgenodigd co-regieschap te voeren over de verfilming van de liederencyclus van Arnold Schoenberg, Pierrot Lunaire. Een en ander onder leiding van Eric de Kuyper.

Both Kranenborg and Velthuis, together with Peter Delpeut and Paul Ruven, were invited to co-direct the filming of the song cycle of Arnold Schoenberg, Pierrot Lunaire. This under the guidance of Eric de Kuyper.

Pierrot Lunaire heeft op diverse festivals in Europa gedraaid. Op het filmfestival van Belfort (1988) won de film de prijs voor de beste buitenlandse film.

Pierrot Lunaire has been shown on several festivals in Europe. It won the price for best forreign film at the Belfort filmfestival 1988.
